Baseball is back — or at least spring training is back. Given my firm conviction that baseball is the best sport, I was fascinated by this story from NPR’s Becky Sullivan about the new automated ball-strike challenge system (ABS) that won't be in place in the upcoming regular season but is being used in spring training. Generally speaking, I prefer humans to do things, but it will be interesting to see how players respond and whether you see this come to the regular season in a year or two.
I was fascinated by this story of the publication of a new edition of the earliest currently known cookbook written by a Black American woman: Malinda Russell's 1866 book A Domestic Cookbook: Containing a Careful Selection of Useful Receipts for the Kitchen.
I encourage you to follow NPR's coverage of events at the Kennedy Center, including this story about a protest through dance.
