Stronger Together
Dear Clearview Families,
We want to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support and partnership. Family engagement is invaluable, and we appreciate your efforts in making Clearview such a vibrant and positive learning environment. We've been particularly impressed with family engagement these past couple of weeks at the PTA meeting, Family Coffee, the Science Olympiad competition (on Saturday), and first grade literacy night last night.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Dress for the Weather
Brrrr! It’s cold out there! Please note that unless the National Weather Service (NWS) issues an Extreme Cold Weather or Wind Chill Warning Alert or Advisory Clearview, students in FCPS participate in outdoor activities including recess, physical education, and scheduled fire drills. During cold spells, please have children prepared to spend time outdoors (jackets, gloves, and hats). Of course, let us know if your child is in need of any of these items.
If your child requires an accommodation (indoor recess) due to a medical condition, please submit a detailed note from a medical professional.

Information for Caregivers on Eating Disorders
In 2013, Virginia passed a law requiring every school system to provide information annually to parents/caregivers of students in grades 5-12. According to the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA 2023):
- Eating disorders are serious but treatable mental and physical illnesses that can affect people of all genders, ages, races, religions, ethnicities, sexual orientations, body shapes, and weights. In the United States, 28.8 million Americans will suffer from an eating disorder at some point in their lives.
- There is no single cause of an eating disorder. Rather, it is a complex combination of biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors that converge and set off an individual’s predisposed genetic vulnerability.
In collaboration with the Fairfax County Health Department, FCPS has developed a webpage with detailed information and resources about eating disorders. In addition to the information on the FCPS website, the National Eating Disorders Association has a toll-free, confidential Helpline: 1-800-931-2237.
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow.
Regular, on-time attendance is a key ingredient to your child’s success. Keeping in mind that students are to stay home if they have a fever (of 100.4 or above), vomiting, or diarrhea, attending school must be a top priority.
- Regular school attendance in elementary school improves the chances that your child will read on grade level.
- Chronic absenteeism (missing 18 or more school days per year) is a primary cause of lower academic achievement even when the absences are "excused" or understandable.
- Students who attend 90% or more of the school year are more likely to graduate from high school on time.
- Absences can be a sign that a student is losing interest in school, struggling with school work, dealing with peer conflicts or facing some other potentially serious difficulty, and help is available.
