Proposed updates to Sykesville noise law would prohibit shouting during the day

Sykesville Police Chief Michael Spaulding alluded to the Pride parade on Main Street as the incident Schofield was referring to. He confirmed Thursday that a person arrived at the parade in early June with a “voice amplification system,” intending to drown out the noise generated by the event.

Fees to dump trash at Carroll County’s Northern Landfill to increase starting Jan. 1

Tipping fees are charged to trash companies that haul garbage to the landfill. They are also charged to residents who dump their own trash. In Carroll County, haulers are independent private businesses contracted by residents and are not managed by the county.
