Purple Up Day on April 9

April is the Month of the Military Child, a time to recognize children from military families for their contributions and sacrifices. Sleepy Hollow will celebrate all month and recognize Purple Up Day on Wednesday, April 9.
We extend our appreciation for the service of all children from military families and celebrate them by wearing purple in an effort to say “Thank You!” Are you or a family member in the military (active or retired) and willing to participate in an assembly at school on Wednesday, April 9? Reach out to the PTA or to Principal Vega.

Whether or not you know any military-connected youth, please take a moment to recognize and honor them by wearing purple on April 9!
Why purple? Purple symbolizes all branches of the military as a combination of Army green, Marine Corps red, and Coast Guard, Navy, Air Force and Space blue.

Take the School Start Time Parent Survey

FCPS would like to hear from all families on the possibility of adjusting school start times across the division. From FCPS:

As we continue the conversation about potentially changing middle school start times, we are inviting you to participate in a School Start Times Survey. Students in 5th to 12th grades will also have the opportunity to take the survey and will receive an email later today.

The School Start Times Survey is being administered by Prismatic Services, an independent firm contracted by FCPS to complete the Middle School Start Times project.

The objective is to develop an action plan that supports the Fairfax County School Board in starting middle schools at or after 8 a.m. Your opinion and feedback are important. Prismatic will keep all responses confidential and will only report overall results.

Participation in the survey is optional. The survey takes about 8-10 minutes to complete.
