Our annual Earth Day Fairfax festival returns to the Sully Historic Site. Make a positive impact on the planet and enjoy interactive activities and games, earth-friendly vendors, food trucks and live music.

Hunter Mill District's Earth Day

Sunday, April 27, 3 - 5 p.m.

Celebrate Earth Day with Supervisor Walter Alcorn at Tysons Forest in Vienna. Enjoy family friendly activities including a stream cleanup, a nature walk led by Sustainability Matters and other fun activities.

“The Producers”

Come to the Reston Community Center to watch a production of "The Producers." Mel Brooks’ adaptation of his 1968 film is a laugh-out-loud, outrageous and crowd-pleasing musical.

Spellbinders - Tales of Tails (7 - 7:45 p.m.) Enjoy oral storytelling from countries around the world at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Annandale. From trickster tales to fables, oral storytelling shares traditions and connects communities. Share your own story for children ages 4 and over. Every child will receive a free book.

Virtual Narcan Training (11 a.m. - noon)

Learn how to potentially save a life during an opioid overdose emergency in this free virtual training. We'll cover how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose, what not to do and how to give Narcan nasal spray.

Infant and Me Yoga (11:15 - 11:45 a.m.)

Practice gentle guided movements and massage while encouraging emotional and physical development with your infant at the Martha Washington Library.

Want To Dance? (4:30 - 5:15 p.m.)

Children ages 6 to 11 can join Hayfield varsity dancer Katelyn and learn beginning dance techniques at the Kingstowne Library. Come in comfy clothes and don't forget to bring a water bottle.

Campfire Fridays (7:30 - 8:30 p.m.)

Join us for an evening campfire at Lake Accotink Park in Springfield. Explore nature through walks, interactive activities and animal presentations. End the evening with s’mores. Registration is $10.

Saturday, April 26 Events

Kitten Spring Fling (11 a.m. - 3 p.m.) Join us at our Animal Shelter's Lorton Campus for a fun-filled day of kittens, crafts and community! Enjoy a Kitten Snuggle Zone, kitten-themed crafts, a "Stuff the Van" donation drive, and fostering and volunteer information. Cat-friendly adoptable dogs will also be there.

Neighborhood and Community Services Open Hire Event (10 a.m. - noon)

Interview on-the-spot for year-round or seasonal jobs in school age child care and therapeutic recreation at the Gerry Hyland Government Center in Alexandria.

Unified Response Day (10 a.m. - noon)

Practice real-life safety scenarios like traffic stops, fire rescues and medical emergencies in a supportive setting at the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Academy. Tour emergency vehicles, chat with officers, firefighters and medics, enjoy giveaways and more.

Unhuggable Animals (10:30 - 11:30 a.m.)

Snakes, skunks and slugs get a bad reputation for being slimy, stinky and dangerous. We'll learn the ecological importance of these native animals at Riverbend Park in Great Falls. Registration is $8.

Arab American Cultural Open House (11 a.m. - 3 p.m.)

Learn about the richness and diversity of Arab American culture through country showcases and snacks at the Chantilly Regional Library.

Fix It Clinic (2 - 6 p.m.)

Have a broken or damaged item you’ve been wanting to repair? We will have fixers skilled in electrical, fabric and jewelry repair at the Centreville Regional Library to fix your items for free.

An Afternoon with Author Angie Kim (2:30 - 3:30 p.m.)

Join us at the Great Falls Library with New York Times bestselling novelist Angie Kim, author of "Happiness Falls" and "Miracle Creek." A Q&A session and book signing will follow a discussion on using fiction to build empathy and overcome bias. 

Chinese Culture Club (4:30 - 5:30 p.m.)

Join us at the Chinese Culture Club at the Dolley Madison Library in McLean. We'll explore Chinese history, art, music and culture through a variety of activities. All activities will be in English and Chinese Mandarin.

Holi at Mosaic (5 - 7 p.m.)

Mosaic invites you to a vibrant celebration of Holi, the Festival of Colors. Get ready for an evening filled with authentic Indian flavors, great music, dancing, cocktails and festivities.

Amazing Pollinators (1 - 2 p.m.) From bees to butterflies to bats, learn all about the native pollinators that call our area home and how they help local plants at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Annandale. Make and decorate a home for pollinators. Registration is $10.
