I can still remember sitting on two old, thick telephone books to reach the keys when I began piano lessons as a four-year-old.
Trotting along with my mother to weekly lessons in Sydney.
The patience of my teacher as she made sure I had the correct hand position, learning Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
I continued lessons until my teens and wish I could still play like I used to!
We are lucky enough to still have a piano at home and I’m going to have to sit down and practice once again, because we are celebrating the instrument on Afternoons.
We are taking the show on the road to the Fremantle Markets and filling it with music. On Friday 2 May between 12.30pm and 3pm, The Freo Markets piano will be wheeled out and we’ll have an array of people to play it.
We will be at the Henderson Street entrance - come and say hi, we would love to see you!
