| Karen Read jury will take trip to Canton home where John O'Keefe was found dead |
It will only be a half day in the Karen Read trial Friday, but it should be an eventful one with jurors turning their attention to John O’Keefe’s final moments as they have a planned visit to the scene in Canton, Massachusetts, where his body was found in January 2022. The jury trip to 34 Fairview Road comes after Read’s prior public interviews were played in court Thursday in which she talks about how much she drank the night O’Keefe died, admitting in one that she “shouldn’t have been driving.” Jurors also heard Thursday about the text messages that were exchanged between the pair, showing they were arguing about their relationship leading up to the night in question. |

Drake Maye has excited reaction to Patriots drafting Will Campbell |
The New England Patriots selected LSU left tackle Will Campbell with the No. 4 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday night, and their franchise quarterback seems pretty excited about it. Maye reacted to the pick with a post on X, and also shared his excitement for the Campbell pick on his Instagram story: Campbell could be the Patriots’ starting left tackle for the next decade, and his addition significantly upgrades a position that was a huge weakness for New England over the last few seasons. |

| Stellar Friday on tap before rain moves in for the weekend |
Another stellar day! Summery temps are on tap across Metrowest, Greater Worcester, and in a line from Nashua to Norwood (with all the towns and cities in between). We’re solidly in the upper 70s with a chance at a few 80-degree readings! Here in Boston, the sea breeze will push in during the afternoon. We’ll also see it invade the North Shore, Cape Ann, and the Seacoast, then eventually work back to the Merrimack Valley. This will keep us under 80, but 70 is still within reach. Then there’s the weekend. |

Local authorities pump brakes on speculation about a New England serial killer |
The internet is rife with rumors that a serial killer is active in New England, but authorities are starting to address the chatter, and none are suggesting that several deaths at the center of the speculation are connected. Investigators even combed a Rhode Island beach after anonymous posts “alluded to the possibility that multiple bodies were buried.” The Narragansett Police Department said Thursday it learned in the last week of “concerning posts” in a Facebook group dedicated to New England serial killers. The posts suggested bodies may be buried in the Black Point area of Scarborough Beach.

‘Really rare': Karen Read's retrial has unusual legal strategies, experts say |
Among the viewer questions we’ve been getting for “Canton Confidential,” our nightly Karen Read trial recap show, are ones about legal strategies that the lawyers have been using so far. They’ve intrigued us, too, among the differences between the first and second trials, so we asked two of our legal analysts about some of what we’ve seen so far. They spotted a pair they’ve rarely seen, or rarely seen used so effectively. One very evident strategy is Special Prosecutor Hank Brennan showing video evidence from interviews of Read in court between witnesses, weaving her own words into the narrative he’s playing out.
