Ford Motor says it's developed a new lithium manganese rich battery, which promises higher energy density, contributing to improved electric vehicle range, while maintaining safety profiles akin to lithium-iron phosphate batteries. Ford aims to incorporate the battery tech into its EV lineup by 2030, adding that the LMR battery will help put its EVs on par cost-wise with gas-powered vehicles.

A study in Nature Human Behaviour revealed that staying tech-savvy in later life may significantly reduce the risk of dementia. Researchers from Baylor University and the University of Texas at Austin analyzed data from 57 studies involving over 411,000 people aged 50 and older, finding that technology use like smartphones and social media was linked to a 58% lower risk of cognitive impairment. "Our data suggests encouraging older adults to engage with technology, particularly in a manner that helps challenge, connect, and compensate for cognitive problems, could be a powerful approach to promoting cognitive health," said Jared Benge, neuropsychologist at the University of Texas at Austin.

Ulta leverages AI, completes major IT modernization

Ulta Beauty has completed Project SOAR, a major IT modernization initiative that replaced legacy systems to enhance inventory management and supply chain data. The retailer is also expanding its use of AI, including generative and agentic AI, to boost productivity and personalize marketing, says Mike Maresca, the retailer's chief technology and transformation officer. The efforts are key to Ulta's omnichannel strategy and plans for upcoming expansion in the Middle East and Mexico.
