Dear Garfield Families,
Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful Easter and joyful Spring Break.
This week, our school was full of excitement as students jumped back into learning with some memorable experiences. Our kindergarteners had a wonderful time exploring Frying Pan Park, getting an up-close look at farm life and animals. Our 4th graders enjoyed their annual visit to see the National Symphony Orchestra—a truly inspiring opportunity to experience the arts in action!
As we move into the SOL testing season, we’re so proud of our students’ focus and effort. Thank you for all the encouragement and support you continue to provide at home—it truly makes a difference.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to invite you to our Paint Night on May 7! Spaces are filling up quickly, so be sure to RSVP soon—we’d love to see you there for a fun and creative evening with our school community. Click Here! Let us know you're coming to Paint Night! Teacher and Staff Appreciation week will be here soon! See below on ways you can celebrate our AMAZING Garfield educators!
Blessings and Joy,

SOL Testing Dates
Students in grades 3–5 will be taking the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) tests between April 30 and May 30, 2025. These assessments are an important opportunity for students to show what they’ve learned this year! To help your child do their very best, please make every effort to ensure they are at school on testing days. If possible, we kindly ask that you avoid scheduling vacations or appointments during this window.
If your child will be absent due to an observed religious holiday, just let their teacher know—we’re happy to make arrangements to ensure they can complete their tests at another time.
A good night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast, and a positive attitude can go a long way in helping your child feel confident and ready. Thank you for your continued support—we're proud of our students and all they've accomplished!
