Oak View families,
We hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break, whether you enjoyed a family trip or relaxed at home!
We're excited to invite all our Oak View Eagles to our PTA-sponsored Fun Run next weekend, on Saturday, May 3! This is a fantastic opportunity for students to connect with friends outside of school and for parents to socialize as well. Whether your child is a runner or not, we encourage everyone to come and cheer on our Eagles as they soar through the course!
Our Coffee & Conversation series has been a great success! It's been a valuable opportunity for me to connect with parents in an informal setting and learn more about your hopes and wishes for our school community. We have one remaining morning session and have added two evening dates to accommodate more schedules:
- Wednesday, April 30, 8:30-9:30 a.m.
- Wednesday, May 7, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, May 21, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
I look forward to connecting with as many of you as possible during these sessions.
Warmly,
Jamie Luerssen
Principal

Early Dismissal, April 28
Mark your calendars! The next early dismissal is scheduled for Monday, April 28, at 12:15 p.m. Supervision will be provided until 3:15 p.m. for families who have pre-arranged childcare with Oak View. If your dismissal plans for the April early release differ from the last early dismissal in March, please submit any changes on the Google form that was sent to families on April 21.
Your Input Matters: Share Your Thoughts on 2025-26 Class Placements!
As we look ahead to the 2025-26 school year, we want to ensure that we create the most positive and effective learning environments for all of our students here at Oak View ES. We value your insights as parents and guardians and invite you to share any information you believe would be helpful as we begin this process. Please understand that while we carefully consider all input, requests for specific teachers cannot be honored due to the many factors involved in creating balanced and successful classrooms.
Please submit your input using THIS GOOGLE FORM anytime through Monday, May 26. This timeframe affords us the time necessary to carefully review all feedback as we begin the placement process.
Thank you for your partnership and for taking the time to provide valuable information that will help us create the best possible learning experiences for our students in the 2025-26 school year.

 Our second grade students loved visiting Mount Vernon and learning about George Washington.
Social and Emotional Screener: Parent Reports
Students in grades 3-6 took the SEL Screener during the month of March, providing information on their SEL skills such as achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.
Individual student SEL Screener results are available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be sent via postal mail.
For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the SEL Screener Results Family Guide or reach out to our school staff with any questions.
Walk, Bike, or Roll to School!
We invite all students and their families to walk or ride their bike/scooter to school on Thursday, May 8.
There are two bike racks on school property that students can use to secure their bike. Please follow these guidelines:
- Wear a helmet;
- Lock up your bike;
- Know how you are getting you and your bike home after school.
Feel free to get together with neighbors and make your own bike train to school. Students need to make sure they ask their parents before riding their bike to school and follow all laws of the road. If you don’t have a bike, don’t worry, you can ride a scooter or even just walk to school. Participants can meet Mr. Hutzel at the back door (#6) by the playground for a small prize.
