I was born and raised in Vancouver, but I have lived in Seattle, Washington, for more than forty years. During that time my American husband and I have made many trips through the Peace Arch border crossing. He learned early on that chesterfields were sofas and serviettes were napkins and that Hockey Night in Canada was as important as Monday Night Football in the U.S.
But there was one time he forgot an important Canadian tradition.
