“It is an honour to take on the presidency of the World Editors Forum at this turning point in history. Journalism has arguably never been more essential—or more under threat,” David Walmsley, Editor-in-Chief of Globe and Mail (Canada), said of his new role.
"Working with editors from all continents, we can thicken our collective line of defence and reinforce a global network that highlights what is truly lost when journalism is attacked."

Initial findings from our ongoing survey show that while the adoption of AI-powered tools is underway, most organisations are still in the early stages – and struggling to measure their impact. We want to hear from you: take our survey and help us understand how AI is shaping journalism in the real world – what’s working, what’s not, and where the biggest opportunities lie. Early results show:
• Most (50%) respondents say their AI use is in early stages, while 11% use it widely across the organisation. Only 7% don’t use AI at all.
• Measuring AI’s impact is difficult: 90% say ROI is hard to track.
• Still, 61% say AI is worth the investment.
The survey is anonymous, and your input will contribute to an industry-wide report to be published in June.
