Happy Friday, everyone! This morning we're tracking rain and possible severe thunderstorms for part of the weekend. Other top news includes more testimony in the Karen Read retrial and the Boston Celtics, who will try to stay alive with a Game 6 victory tonight in New York. Here's today's headlines.

Karen Read trial resumes this morning following medical examiner's graphic testimony

The Karen Read retrial will resume this morning for Day 17 of testimony following a difficult day in the courthouse yesterday during which unpleasant autopsy photos were displayed for jurors as the medical examiner detailed John O’Keefe’s injuries.

Dr. Irini Scordi-Bello, who conducted the autopsy on O’Keefe, discussed bruises on O’Keefe’s hands, scrapes on his arm, abrasions to the face, and a critical head injury. It was the most graphic evidence so far on display for the jury.

Scordi-Bello, who has concluded her time on the stand, testified that she ultimately determined O’Keefe’s cause of death was blunt injury impact to the head and hypothermia.

Tracking rain, possible severe thunderstorms Saturday

Gearing up for a weekend where we’re dodging drops. Again.

While this doesn’t look as nasty as next week (egad), it will have a few wet times. Safe to say much of the time it WON’T be raining.

Thunder is our biggest concern on Saturday. There’s still plenty of humidity to fuel some hefty storms in the afternoon.

Celtics back in New York for Game 6 days after Tatum's injury, will try to tie series against Knicks​

A championship window seemed to be closing when the Boston Celtics left Madison Square Garden earlier this week.

Jayson Tatum had just been carried off the court with a season-ending injury minutes before the Celtics were pushed to the brink of elimination. The players were decidedly down.

The defending NBA champions are certainly not out.

Man detained by ICE after car window smashed in Mass. is released after a month

An immigrant taken into custody when ICE agents smashed his car’s window in New Bedford, Massachusetts, last month was released from custody on Thursday.

Juan Francisco Méndez spoke to NBC10 Boston as soon as he stepped out of an ICE office in Burlington, where he was brought from a jail in New Hampshire after a judge granted him a $1,500 bond.

Wearing an ankle monitor, Méndez said he couldn’t think of anything other than seeing his family again after being wrongfully detained for a month.

2 Boston employees arrested on domestic violence charges

Two Boston City Hall employees were arrested early Thursday morning on domestic violence charges.

Marwa Khudaynazar, chief of staff at the city’s Office of Police Accountability, called 911 just after 2 a.m., according to court records. Officers responded to a Hudson Street apartment, which they entered after hearing a woman yell, “let me go.”

Officers said Chulan Huang, who works in Boston’s Office of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion, was shirtless and had multiple bite marks on his chest and arms.

Sheriff's deputy leaves job after investigation into free home plumbing work

A top official in the Norfolk County Sheriff’s office accused of having department employees perform free plumbing and electrical work on his home has lost his job.

Tom Brady served as assistant deputy superintendent of jail operations at the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office.

The Massachusetts State Ethics Commission investigation into this case was launched after a report from the NBC10 Boston Investigators.
