Fourth-grade students experienced an exciting learning opportunity today with a special guest: Dr. McGeehan, Mrs. McGeehan's husband, an oceanographer. He shared details about oceanography and his research, and the students were so engaged and asked a lot of great questions!
Dear CWES Families,
Wow, can you believe there are fewer than 20 school days remaining? We're so impressed by the effort and commitment our students have demonstrated all year long, and we are wrapping up all end-of-year assessments. You may have already seen that SOL testing results are now accessible on SIS ParentVUE. Scores will be updated each Monday. We know that some students are naturally curious about their results, while for others, focusing on them might create unnecessary stress. When you discuss these results with your child, please keep their individual needs and personality in mind.
Today is the last day to submit parent input for the 2025-2026 school year, so please complete the form if you have not already done so. Additionally, feel free to reach out if you have any additional information to share.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Leslie Malkowski, Kristi McGeehan, and Mindy Milliron
CWES Administrative Team
Join us for our Quarter 4 Family Book Club: CWES Loves Art on Thursday, May 29th at 8:15 am in the library and/or art room. An adult must be in attendance with their student. Students and families can choose from one of 2 books: the picture book: Ablaze with Color: A Story of Painter Alma Thomas or the chapter book: Me, Frida, and the Secret of the Peacock Ring. Families are encouraged to read the books alongside their students. We will celebrate our final book club with a fun art activity to go along with our theme!
You can sign up using the flyer found in Tuesday Folders or the following link: CWES Family Book Club - Quarter 4.

- Order Deadline: June 17, 2025
The 2025 Spring SOL testing schedule runs throughout the month of May. Please make every effort to avoid scheduling appointments or absences on the days your child is testing.
Each year, a team consisting of classroom teachers, special education teachers, administrators, specialists, and counselors come together to collaborate and provide feedback on the formation of class groupings. This is a comprehensive and cooperative process. We greatly appreciate your input regarding your child's learning needs. It's important to note that our staff is exceptional, and we kindly ask that you refrain from mentioning specific teacher names on this form.
Please rest assured that all forms will be carefully reviewed by our administration and teachers. While we strive to take all factors into account when determining class placements, we may not be able to fulfill every request. However, please know that all information provided will be taken into consideration as we make decisions about placement.
For your input to be considered, we kindly request that this form be completed and submitted by Friday, May 16, 2025.
Please note that staff grade level assignments may occasionally change as a result of late enrollments or other unforeseen circumstances. Staff assignments will be finalized in August.
Some of our students participated in STEM Night at NOVA this week and had a special guest visit from Mrs. White!
It is with great excitement that we invite you to join us for Field Day on Friday, June 6th!
-
Grades 4-6 will be in the morning from 9:50-11:50.
-
Kindergarten-3rd will be in the afternoon from 1:30-3:30.
