May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it's a great time to reflect on how we can support our children's emotional well-being, as well as our own. Mental health matters just as much as physical health, and small daily habits can make a big difference.

Here are a few simple tips to keep in mind:

  • Start the Conversation Ask your child how they’re feeling—and really listen. Open, honest conversations help children feel safe and understood.
  • Keep Routines Steady Regular bedtimes, meals, and time outdoors help create a sense of stability and calm.
  • Unplug Together Try to carve out screen-free time each day. Reading, drawing, cooking, or just chatting can all help reconnect and reduce stress.
  • Model Healthy Habits When children see adults taking care of their mental health, it encourages them to do the same—whether that’s through rest, talking things out, or taking a deep breath.
  • Check In With Yourself Supporting your child starts with looking after your own well-being. Don’t forget: you matter, too.

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that it’s okay to ask for help. If you ever have concerns about your child’s mental health or well-being, please feel free to reach out—we’re here to support you.
