Two years ago, this bustling metropolis on the Nile became engulfed in the Sudanese civil war. Last month, government troops regained control from the rebels. But much of the city is in ruins. Millions of residents fled. Health facilities have been devastated.
Now the city is struggling to heal itself -- and those citizens who stayed and suffered.
