Principal's Message

Dear Eagle View Families,

It’s been a full and exciting week at Eagle View! I want to give a huge shoutout to our 3rd–6th-grade students for their hard work in Math SOLs this week. They showed tremendous focus, determination, and resilience throughout the testing process. I’m incredibly proud of their efforts and the positive attitude they brought each day.

Congratulations to the 10 Strings musicians and 3 Band musicians who performed at the 2025 District 11 Solo and Ensemble Festival last Saturday at Frost Middle School!  These students chose to take on this extra challenge and have practiced their instruments for weeks leading up to their performances. Each student performed for a judge who is a local professional musician.  The judge rated each performance in seven categories, including intonation, tone quality, and musicality.   Each musician earned one of the two highest ratings possible – Superior or Excellent. Congratulations to our outstanding musicians!

Lastly, I want to share an opportunity that extends beyond our school community. With the recent wave of layoffs in the DMV area, All Peoples Community Church (APCC) will be hosting a free, community-focused career seminar at Eagle View titled Get Hired, Faster! on Wednesday, May 28 at 8:00 PM here at Eagle View Elementary School.  Led by Timothy Lo, a certified career coach, the session will provide practical job search strategies with no sales pitches or promotions. Tim has coached over 6,000 individuals, including staff from the U.S. State Department. A flyer with details about the event was sent home in your child’s Wednesday Folder this week. The seminar is open to all, so please feel free to share the information with anyone who may benefit from it.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Sincerely,

KJ An

Parent Input on Class Placements for the ’25-’26 school year

As we begin planning for the next school year, we take great care in creating balanced class placements that support both the academic growth and social development of every student. Our teachers, specialists, and administrators collaborate closely during this process—and we value your insights as part of that team. If you would like to share information about your child that you feel will help us make the best possible placement, please complete the Parent Input Form by May 30, 2025. While we do not accept specific teacher requests, we welcome your thoughts about your child’s learning style, peer relationships, and any other factors you believe are important. Thank you for being a vital partner in your child’s success!

Looking for Preschool Peer Models!

We are seeking enthusiastic, preschool-aged children to serve as community peer models in our Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) classrooms for the 2025–2026 school year. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to grow socially and academically while making new friends and supporting inclusive learning environments.

We are looking for three peer models per classroom across the following programs:

  • Preschool Autism Classrooms (PAC):
    For children ages 3–5
    Schedule:

    • Tues, Thurs, Fri: 9:15 AM – 4:00 PM

    • Mon, Wed: 9:15 AM – 12:35 PM
(Includes a teacher and two instructional assistants)

  • AM Preschool Classrooms (3½–4-year-olds):
    Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:15 AM – 12:35 PM

  • PM Preschool Classroom (4–5-year-olds):
    Schedule: Monday–Friday, 12:40 PM – 4:00 PM

Each class supports up to 10 students with disabilities, alongside highly qualified staff. Community peer models will play and learn side-by-side with their peers with special needs, helping to model age-appropriate language, motor, and social skills.

All children learn best through play, and intellectual and social growth is fostered through high-quality peer interactions. This program encourages active learning and meaningful friendships, while promoting inclusion and understanding.

Parents must provide daily transportation.

If you are interested in having your child attend a screening “play date” to be considered as a community peer model, please complete the Peer Model Interest Form by May 23, 2025.

Let’s build a community of learners, one friendship at a time!
