Preet Bharara is a dear friend. We worked together for eight years as two of the first U.S. Attorneys appointed during the Obama administration. Now, we co-host the “Insider” podcast.

After Preet was abruptly fired by President Trump in early 2017, he found himself with lots of newfound time on his hands, and co-founded CAFE Studios, which produces his flagship interview podcast, “Stay Tuned with Preet” and the “Insider” podcast, which we host together every Tuesday morning, discussing issues of justice and fairness. Over the years we’ve spent together behind the mic, I’ve so appreciated Preet’s calm, reason, and humor, even as we tackle the scary legal and political issues we face as a nation. “Stay Tuned” is now coming to Substack, with the hope of bringing thoughtfulness and substance to even more people. In addition to the podcasts, there are columns written every week by some of the brightest legal minds in the country. They let me write a column too.
Preet is a really extraordinary lawyer, what I’d call a lawyer’s lawyer. Instead of taking the easy position, the one that lines up with his personal views, he is the kind of lawyer who engages in a rigorous analysis of the facts and the law. That means his views are always worth listening to. We are incredibly lucky to have him as our guest for “Five Questions” tonight, in a moment where the rule of law is under attack and we all have a lot of questions about what comes next.
