Hours of Operation: Open to Public Memorial Day

The Thomas Jefferson Building, including the Great Hall and exhibition spaces, will be open to visitors with timed-entry passes on the federal Memorial Day holiday. All other buildings of the Library will be closed in observance of the federal holiday, including all reading rooms. There will be no research availability or reader registration on the federal holiday.

May Family Day: Musical Families

Celebrate music, instruments and more with activities, collections, and specialists from the Music Division and the American Folklife Center. Each Family Day includes a creative activity, connections to Library of Congress collections, a chance to talk to staff experts, and a guide to using Library resources at home.
Activities will be held on the mezzanine level of the Library’s Jefferson Building from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on May 17. The event is free, but passes are required for the Jefferson Building.
Programming Schedule:
11 a.m.: Musical Story Time (ages 5-8)
12 p.m.: Historical instruments tour
1 p.m.: Gershwin Gallery tour
2 p.m.: Musical Story Time (ages 5-8) with SSgt. Philip Espe, "The President's Own" United States Marine Band Programming will be held in the Whittall Pavilion.
