When it comes to an endeavor such as packing, I identify as type A-minus. That’s a new term my fellow editor Melissa Yeager recently informed me of, and now I can’t stop thinking about how it truly nails who I am as a traveler.
Do I build pretty, color-coded spreadsheet itineraries? No, I prefer a running list of cool recommendations, organized by category. Do I own packing cubes? Sure, a couple, but I fit what I can in them and stuff the rest into my suitcase. Have I started packing for my family’s beach trip next week? Nope, but there’s a growing list in my notes app broken down by bag.
I love to pack. There’s nothing like the anticipation of a trip whilst I fling clothes around my room and hold a mini fashion show – audience of one – and then neatly organize what I can manage into those packing cubes. That’s my methodology, though it’s certainly not for everyone.
Whether you have a knack for the perfect pack or not, these guides will have you passing the packing exam with flying colors. Let’s start with some wisdom from our well-traveled guidebook writers.
