Brown shares optimistic outlook after season-ending loss to Knicks

“It just wasn’t our year.”

Jaylen Brown emphasized that point several times Friday night after the Boston Celtics’ season-ending 119-81 loss to the New York Knicks. The reigning NBA champions were outclassed as they trailed by as many as 41 points in the Game 6 defeat.

The Knicks winning the series in six games was a stunning outcome. The C’s entered as heavy favorites, but New York jumped out to a 2-0 series lead and eventually finished the job in front of its home crowd.

FIRST ALERT: Showers, possible thunderstorms today

We’re starting the weekend off with a lot of gray and plenty of soupy air. Other than a few early showers, there won’t be much in the way of wet weather early today.

Our attention will turn to thunderstorms late today as a cold front slices through New England.

Timing is everything for storms, and these appear to come to us very late in the game. As sun busts through the clouds this afternoon, we should pop into the low and mid-70s.

Police bodycam video of chaotic ICE operation in Worcester is released

Police body camera footage of a controversial U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation in Worcester, Massachusetts, last week was released on Friday.

The footage show a 17-year-old girl being arrested by Worcester police officers while federal agents detain her mother a few feet away on Thursday, May 8. The immigration activity prompted residents to object as it was happening, as is seen on the footage, and afterward, with protests held against ICE operations in their community.

With the release of the footage — three bodycam videos and emergency response dispatch audio described as the first batch from officers on the scene — on Friday, City Manager Eric Batista also announced a new policy prohibiting city employees from inquiring about people’s immigration status or from letting immigration status affect how people are treated. The city reiterated that Worcester police officers are not to perform immigration officers’ functions.

Porzingis candidly reflects on illness that impacted him throughout playoffs

A frustrating postseason for Kristaps Porzingis came to an end Friday night at Madison Square Garden.

The Boston Celtics big man tallied just four points on 1 for 4 shooting in his team’s Game 6 blowout loss to the New York Knicks, providing a brief spark with a 3-pointer and a blocked shot but logging just 11 minutes and 30 seconds of court time.

Porzingis only played 20-plus minutes in one of Boston’s last six games while battling the lingering effects of an upper respiratory illness that caused him to miss eight straight games in late February and early March.
