Dear Keene Mill Families,
As we close another chapter of our school year together, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your continued support, trust, and partnership.
It has been an honor to work with your children each day. Watching them grow academically, socially, and emotionally has been a privilege that fills me with pride and hope. Their curiosity, kindness, and resilience are daily reminders of the importance of the work we do together as a school community.
Thank you for supporting our school, whether by volunteering your time, attending events, communicating with teachers, or simply encouraging your children to do their best. Your involvement makes a meaningful difference, and we couldn’t do this important work without you.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and to be part of your children’s educational journey. I look forward to continuing our partnership in the year 2025-2026.
Wishing you a joyful, restful summer and many special moments with your loved ones.
Sincerely,
Principal Peace
Congratulations to our May Kangas CARE recipients who are showing cooperation, acceptance, responsibility and empathy everyday!

Color Our World With Reading This Summer!
This year KMES is partnering with Fairfax County Public Libraries and adopting the FCPL Summer Reading Program “Color Our World”. This is an amazing, engaging program and we are excited to be part of it.
- Beginning June 4, go to fairfaxcounty.beanstack.org and pre-register for the Summer Reading Adventure appropriate for you or your children.
- Depending on your age, earn ten or fifteen virtual badges by reading or listening to books, reading for 20 or 30 minutes, completing activities or a combination of all three.
- Once you have met the reading goals for your age/grade, visit your local library branch and receive prizes for finishing the program!

Language Arts Summer Learning: Magazines, Weekly Plans, Activities, and More
We will be sending students home with two Benchmark magazines to help them practice their reading and writing skills during the summer. You will also receive a letter from our school with weekly learning plans and activities.
Find more ways to support your child's literacy skills on FCPS’ Summer Learning Resources webpage. All of these activities are optional, but we encourage families to help their students practice reading and writing during summer break, so that they can start strong next school year.
