Which has the better deals?
Budget Battle: Two Retail Giants
Cheap isn't always better
Here at The Penny Hoarder, we love a good deal and both Target and Dollar Tree have plenty of them.
Dollar Tree, with 9,000-plus stores in North America, is known for its low prices — most of its items are priced at $1.25, making it a go-to for budget purchases. (Some of our favorite picks include disposable party supplies, gift wrap and basic kitchenware.) But the trade-off can come in product durability and selection.
Target, on the other hand, is technically a superstore. So it sells all sorts of products, including higher quality items and well known brands. Prices are certainly higher at Target, but it often offers better value for items intended for long-term use. Target, which has almost 2,000 stores nationwide, also has its own affordable private-label brands, like Up & Up and Threshold, which are praised for both their quality.
So which is better? It really depends on what you're looking for. But we took a look at some summer products from each store, and these 15 Target items came out on top.
