Questions from the Mailbag: Overhead Wires
The transportation team receives frequent popular questions about construction on Columbia Pike, so we thought we'd share answers with newsletter readers, too!
Question: Why are there overhead wires and old poles in some parts of Columbia Pike? When will they come down?
Answer: The County is coordinating with utility companies like Verizon, Comcast and Dominion to remove the last of their wires, poles, and other equipment on Columbia Pike. Once these are removed, the County can complete final paving and concrete work in those locations. The timeline of these removals depends on the utility companies.
Asphalt Installation on Westbound Lane

Three driveways adjacent to the work zone will be closed, with alternative egress via South Scott Street and South Courthouse Road.
