Runner celebrates milestone: Mount Gambier man Scott Sawyer has sprinted into the record books by reaching a rare milestone. Last weekend he finished his 500th parkrun around the 5km loop around the Blue Lake. Scott — who has has been part of the Mount Gambier parkrun since it started more than a decade ago — has now set his sights on reaching his 1,000th parkrun.

Bullet hole found in vehicle: Police are investigating a gunshot incident at Naracoorte on Wednesday. According to police, they were called to Dorset Street following reports gunshots were heard in the street. A vehicle was seen leaving the area immediately after the incident. No injuries were reported but police located a bullet hole in an empty vehicle parked in the driveway of a home. The incident is not believed to be random.
Foodbank expands: Hunger relief charity Foodbank will expand its regional reach after experiencing one of its busiest winters on record. Demand for food and essential items reached peak levels in May and June, with Foodbank Mount Gambier also recording a spike in the number of first-time clients. The charity will open community-led sites in Port Lincoln and the Coorong, with plans to expand into more regional areas later this year.
