Apple sets a date: The company will reveal its new iPhone 17 lineup on Sept. 9, including an expected slimmer version of its signature device.

Anthropic settles: The well funded AI startup had protested vociferously in court about the potential “death knell” situation of a class-action suit brought by authors, so to avert such a scenario it has now reached a settlement with authors.

Netflix has a hit: KPop Demon Hunters, a cartoon musical about a fictional female singing group, is the streaming service’s most-watched original film. In addition to the 236 million views since its June 20 release, the movie was No. 1 in the US box office last weekend when it had a two-day run as a sing-along version in theaters.

Nikon Corp.’s Tokyo-traded shares shot up 21%, the most they’ve ever risen in a day, after Bloomberg reported that Ray-Ban maker EssilorLuxottica is exploring a deal to more than double its stake in Nikon to about 20%. The companies have operated an eyewear joint venture since 2000.
