Dear Marek, Summer’s over, policymakers are back at their desks, and the EU’s budget talks are heating up. The decisions made in the coming months will shape Europe’s ability to deliver against its priorities until 2034. Now is the time to show EU leaders that we need strong investments in global development to build the future we want.
What do the Eiffel Tower, the Acropolis, or the canals of Amsterdam have in common? They all began with a vision by architects who knew that strong foundations and smart investments create lasting value. Right now, the EU is deciding how it will spend its money for the next budget cycle (2028-2034). We believe a strong foundation for the future starts with investment in global health, climate resilience, education, and humanitarian support. This is our once-in-a-decade moment to shape the future we want to see.

The European Commission has proposed €200 billion for external action, including €60 billion for sub-Saharan Africa, but these figures aren’t guaranteed.
