Tell Congress: No toxic chemicals in our drinking water.

Hi Mother Jones Reader,

The Trump administration is proposing to abandon limits on toxic forever chemicals in America's drinking water, putting millions of people across our country at risk.

As an environmental lawyer in North Carolina, here’s what I know: No one voted for drinking dirty water and it will take us all to protect our health and communities from these industrial chemicals. As a mom, I know there’s nothing more important than the health of my family.

The best thing to do right now is ask your elected officials to hold the line on protections that limit harmful PFAS in our drinking water.

TAKE ACTION

I’ve spent the last several years at Southern Environmental Law Center focusing on protecting communities from PFAS. We support everyone’s right to a healthy and safe environment, which doesn’t include drinking, bathing, or fishing in these industrial chemicals.

PFAS are

  • a class of thousands of harmful, toxic chemicals,
  • primarily discharged by industry and wastewater treatment plants receiving industrial waste,
  • not removed by conventional water treatment, and
  • known for not breaking down in our bodies, rivers, or drinking water sources.

While our federal government may choose to look the other way, we need your help making sure someone’s watching.

Thanks for jumping in,
Jean Zhuang,
