Library of Congress Names Arthur Sze the Nation's 25th U.S. Poet Laureate

The Library of Congress today announced the appointment of Arthur Sze as the nation’s 25th Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry for 2025-2026.
The winner of the Library’s 2024 Rebekah Johnson Bobbitt National Prize for Poetry, Sze will begin his laureateship with a reading of his work on Thursday, Oct. 9, in the Library’s historic Coolidge Auditorium, and free tickets will be available on loc.gov starting Sept. 18.
During his term as Poet Laureate, Sze, who lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, plans to have a special focus on translating poetry originally written in other languages.

The Motor Vehicle Operator is located in the Transportation Unit, Logistics Services Division, Integrated Support Services (ISS), and Office of the Chief Operating Officer at the Library of Congress. The position reports directly to the Motor Vehicle Supervisor. This unit provides transportation support to all Library Staff. The purpose and function of this position is to operate all types of vehicles in the Library's transportation fleet, to include cars, vans, buses, and light/heavy duty trucks, to transport Library Staff and government documents and property to designated locations.

The position is located in the IT Contracts & Asset Control Division within the IT Financial Management Directorate of the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). The incumbent reports directly to the division chief.
The incumbent supervises a diverse team that focuses on the Information Technology (IT) acquisition and vendor management of contracts and procurements ranging from commercial purchases and simplified acquisitions of commodity IT to complex multi-year and multi-agency support contracts in an environment that is comprehensive, varied, and complex. The incumbent is responsible for acquisitions IT products and services from supplies to enterprise-wide computer systems, agile development, and operational service contracts such as service desk and call center services. This responsibility enables OCIO to build and support IT infrastructure capacities and capabilities that deliver platforms, services and applications to the Library's mission and business units. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the division chief in overseeing the procurement of IT products and services Library-wide valued at over $100 million annually, providing policies, procedures, and guidance to IT Contracting Officer Representatives (CORs) and technical subject matter experts throughout the Library.
