Registration for Trunk or Treat Opens Tomorrow!

Sign up starting tomorrow, Wed., Sept. 17 at noon for our annual Trunk or Treat event! This free, family-friendly celebration includes candy giveaways and indoor activities like moon bounces, arts and crafts, story time, and animal visits from our nature centers.

 

The event takes place on Sat., Oct. 18 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Lubber Run Community Center. A sensory-friendly time with no music or fog will be offered during the first half hour. Register here starting at noon tomorrow!


Red Cross Babysitting Class –
This Saturday, Sept. 20

Planning to babysit? This Red Cross class will teach youth the skills they need to care for children and infants safely and responsibly. Participants will learn how to start a babysitting business, build leadership skills, and keep themselves and others safe. Sign up here

Kick'n It Kickoff Tournament

Think you’re Arlington’s best teen soccer player? Show off those skills at the Kick’n It Late Night Kickoff Tournament on Sat., Sept. 20 9 p.m.-12 a.m. at Arlington Mill. Sign up your team of five - or come solo and we’ll match you with teammates. Compete for a shot at prizes and the ultimate bragging rights. Prizes go to the top three teams. Secure your spot and sign up today!

The Refresh: Public Spaces Master Plan Open House

Arlington is refreshing its 2019 Public Spaces Master Plan (PSMP), an element of the County's Comprehensive Plan that helps guide the future of our public spaces and facilities. Welcome to The Refresh! Join us on Wed., Sept. 24 from 7-8:30 p.m. for an open house at Lubber Run Community Center. Explore interactive stations, share your ideas and feedback about access to amenities, and help shape the future of Arlington's public spaces!

Looking for a fun Friday night for your kids—and a little time for yourself? Parents Night Out is back this Fri, Sept. 19, at Walter Reed Community Center for children ages 5 to 10.

New Tech Help Desks for Older Adults Launch This Fall

The Alliance for Arlington Senior Programs (AASP) is kicking off a new program to expand digital learning opportunities for older adults. This fall, AASP is launching Tech Help Desks at two community centers:


Langston-Brown Community Center
Starting Sept. 25 - Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon

 

Walter Reed Community Center
starting Sept. 29 - Mondays, 1 to 3 p.m.

Need to upload a file, download a PDF, or something else? We've got you covered. 55+ members are encouraged to drop in during designated hours to get help with any of your technology questions.

The countdown is on! Arlington’s vibrant celebration of Hispanic Heritage, Festival LatinoAmericano, returns to Arlington Mill on Friday, Oct. 3 from 5-9 p.m., and we want you to be part of the fun. Enjoy an evening filled with Latin American culture, food, music, art, and dance. Don’t miss out!

Family Art Lab: Painted Pumpkins

Get ready to decorate some cute and spooky pumpkins. We’ll provide the pumpkins, paints, supplies, and inspiration photo. You bring your creativity. We’ll be using acrylic paint, which can stain clothes, so please dress for the mess.

The program will take place on Sat, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at Arlington Mill Community Center. Cost is $9 per person. Sign up here.

Fall Heritage Festival

Celebrate the season and our nation’s heritage with a family-friendly afternoon of hands-on fun. Try old-time games and crafts, make a corn husk doll, churn butter, dip candles, and work the cider press. Bring an old shirt and pants to make a scarecrow—child sizes work best.

The festival takes place on Sat., Oct. 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Gulf Branch Nature Center. Register here!

Parks & Recreation classes, camps, fitness memberships, preschools, programs and more are at a price you can afford! Our fee reduction program helps Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day! Access for All. Whether you have a short-term set back or something longer term, we're here to help.

 

Additionally, all Parks & Recreation programs, classes and camps can put modifications in place to promote an enjoyable and successful program experience for participants of all abilities. Advance notice is welcome. Call 703-228-4740 or email trinfo@arlingtonva.us.

 

Stop by our office at Lubber Run Community Center on select Saturdays to get help with registration, create an account, get login information, renew or apply for fee reductions, drop off registration forms, set up payment plans and more. The DPR Administrative Services Office at Lubber Run Community Center also has extended after hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 –7 p.m. for in-person assistance.
