Caring for People at Risk for Suicide
Improve care and outcomes for people at risk for suicide with effective paths to care and a collaborative safety plan:
- Prevention isn’t about just one moment. Ongoing support and follow-up care builds trust and supports long-term healing and recovery.
- Prioritizing self-care is a vital way to support mental well-being and reduce risk. Simple, consistent actions like getting enough sleep, eating nutritious food, engaging in physical activity, and finding healthy ways to manage stress: therapy, mindfulness, hobbies, or spending time in nature. Check out this video from SAMHSA.
Having a safety plan in place can provide control and hope. Knowing when to contact 988 or 911 is essential.
