The above is a drawing from 2018. Coincidentally, I was in London at the same time Trump was visiting and stumbled on a protest. The gathered crowd was passionate, and they had a huge balloon! I have to say I love their sense of humor. Thanks all the Londoners today who came out and protested (and apparently there were thousands) Trump in the UK today. It’s not clear why he’s there for a second state visit, most likely a photo op to make him look presidential. The gaudiness of the photos is nauseating to me, Trump must be going crazy over all the gold at Windsor Castle. He clearly wants to be a king. Four people were arrested after projecting huge photos of Trump and Epstein on the walls of Windsor Castle. There will be a press conference tomorrow with Prime Minister Starmer, and undoutedly the Epstein files will come up since Epstein’s influence reached across the pond. Here are some more of my drawings from London back in 2018 during Trump’s first presidency. The Federal Reserve lowered interest rates by a quarter of a percentage point today and they signaled that two more cuts could follow this year. I know how newsworthy this is, but I am not one who fully grasps economic principles. I do know Trump wants to completely control the Federal Reserve, when it is designed to be independent from presidential power. We shall see if he can be kept away. At a hearing today, Susan Monarez, the former head of the Centers for Disease Control told a Senate committee today that she was fired by RFK, Jr. for “holding the line on scientific integrity.” She said she had refused Kennedy’s “demands to fire C.D.C. vaccine officials and to preemptively agree to approve vaccine recommendations without seeing the science behind them.” She testified about a private meeting with Kennedy during which a “very, very upset and very animated” health secretary hurled insults at the C.D.C. She said Kennedy called the C.D.C. “the most corrupt federal agency in the world” and told her that its employees were “killing children.” Dr. Monarez also told senators that Kennedy claimed employees were “bought by the Pharma industry.” We’ve seen him agitated. I just keep hoping RFK will self-impode and storm out of our lives completely. It’s frightening what he’s doing. In Epstein news: JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said he would comply with a subpoena to hand over any files or records associated with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein was a big client of JPMorgan. “We regret any association with that man at all. And, of course, if it’s a legal requirement, we would conform to it. We have no issue with that. I think what happened to those women is terrible and any role we played in it.” But, just an hour ago, along party lines, The House Judiciary Committee rejected a request from Democrats to vote on whether to subpoena the CEOs of four major banks to testify in connection with the Epstein files. Former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida in 2008, Alex Acosta, who originally gave Epstein a sweetheart deal when he was originally arrested, will testify to Congress next month. Vance said he would “go after” left organizations. Deputy Attorney General and former Trump lawyer Todd Blanche said the DOJ would “investigate” organized Trump protestors. He was trying to walk back Attorney General Pam Bondi’s comments about "hate speech," which landed her in hot water with conservatives as well as liberals, of course. He said, “What the administration is talking about is organized efforts by individuals who are not present at the protest, but they’re funding these protests, and they’re not protests. They’re inflicting damage and harm and actually assaulting officers. …That’s the conduct that we’re trying to stop.” These are fear tactics, because really how often does that happen? Following the murder of Kirk, Bondi said on a podcast on Monday that the Justice Department would "absolutely target you, go after you, if you are targeting anyone with hate speech." In a Monday night interview on Fox, Bondi suggested DOJ might prosecute Office Depot workers in Michigan for unlawful discrimination because they refused to print posters for a Kirk memorial. She has since tried to clarify by saying of course the administration values free speech. Keep calling them out. Like the Brits, we should have big angry balloons and project photos on walls of buildings! It was a beautiful day today in New York. Clear and crisp air, beautiful clouds, gorgeous blue sky. I am grateful to be here, and grateful to you for being here. See you tomorrow, have a lovely Wednesday evening. |
