(AP Photo/Evan Vucci) "We're forever joined, and we are forever friends and we will always be friends," President Trump said at a press conference with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer today, capping the end of Trump's second state visit. - Starmer has secured several significant wins from Trump, including lower tariffs than many other countries.
⚡️How he did it: Starmer has cultivated a better relationship with Trump than many other leaders, despite the two leaders' very different politics. - He makes a point to take Trump's calls and to create opportunities for face time, officials told The Wall Street Journal (gift link). That can be a state dinner at Windsor Castle, or a spontaneous trip to Washington or Trump's golf course in Scotland.
- Trump "thinks Starmer holds his ground on his positions without being critical," the Journal reports.
- And when Starmer realized Trump was eager to announce trade deals, he moved quickly and was able to secure particularly favorable terms.
