Dear Lancers:
I hope you had a wonderful fall weekend! I have been enjoying watching my son compete in cross country meets on Saturday mornings with his high school. This week we will be hosting the book fair at our school. We will also be hosting a bingo night on October 16th through our after-school program. I hope to see many of you there! More information about the book fair and bingo are given below. The end of the first quarter of the school year is quickly approaching. Please be sure to check your student’s progress reports and reach out to their teachers if you have any questions.
I wanted to share with you an article related to the consumption of highly caffeinated energy drinks as an FYI. These beverages are increasingly popular but can pose risks to the developing minds and bodies of middle schoolers. While often marketed with bright packaging and promises of energy or performance, the high levels of caffeine and other additives in these drinks can lead to health issues. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and other health organizations advise that children and adolescents should not consume energy drinks. High caffeine intake can cause an increased heart rate, palpitations, and irregular heart rhythms, which is particularly concerning for developing cardiovascular systems. Excessive caffeine can also trigger or worsen feelings of anxiety, stress, and irritability.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I appreciate your ongoing support and partnership.
