The results on the Rhode Island Comprehensive Assessment System exam tend to get all the attention locally, but let’s face it: there’s a reason that a great episode of “Saved by the Bell” was about SAT scores (no way Zack Morris actually got a 1502, by the way).
The Rhode Island Department of Education unveiled the results on both the RICAS (for students in elementary and middle school) SAT (for high school) last week, and there were some good stories to tell at the high school level.
Here’s a breakdown of the high schools that saw at least 75 percent of students meet or exceed expectations in English Language Arts or 65 percent meet or exceed expectations in math.
English Language Arts
✅ Classical High School: 90.9 percent
✅ East Greenwich High School: 87.3 percent
✅ Barrington High School: 87.1 percent
✅ Mt. Hope High School: 83.3 percent
✅ Narragansett High School: 82.6 percent
✅ North Smithfield High School: 79.2 percent
✅ South Kingstown High School: 79.0 percent
✅ Portsmouth High School: 77.4 percent
✅ Jacqueline M. Walsh School for the Performing and Visual Arts: 77.1 percent
✅ North Kingstown Senior High School: 76.6 percent
✅ Exeter-West Greenwich Regional High School: 75.5 percent
Math
✅ Barrington High School: 70.7 percent
✅ East Greenwich High School: 70.3 percent
✅ Classical High School: 68.1 percent
