Rebecca Ferguson on the End of the World |
Just as she did in The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, Kathryn Bigelow builds intensity throughout her new film, A House of Dynamite. This time around, the Oscar winner also has a secret weapon: Rebecca Ferguson, who has brought layers to characters that could easily have been one note in both the Mission: Impossible and Dune franchises. Here, Ferguson speaks with Rebecca Ford about entering (a replica of) the White House situation room, returning to the world of Dune, and how even the ultratense Dynamite may have nothing on the sorry state of the real world: “It’s fucking horrific. I get angry. I get so angry about what is happening. I feel helpless, and I sit there going, ‘How are we not going in? How are we not helping? How is this happening? How can we let it happen?’ That’s what I hear myself say all the time.”
