Chantilly A/B Day Calendar

Newsies

A Note from Dr. Goodloe:

Dear Chantilly Community,

Chantilly is superCHARGED! WE were energized to begin the week on Monday with a day of learning and collaboration for our Charger Staff. Senior celebrations this week for our Field Hockey and Cross Country teams showcased their spirit and recognized the accomplishments of our class of 2026. Our cheer team competed in the first round of their district competition and landed the highest seed for the finals next week. Girls Flag Football kicked off their season with two wins, including an exhilarating last second touchdown!  And finally, The Chantilly Fall Musical Newsies hit the stage Thursday evening with an energetic opening night and will run throughout the weekend. Get your tickets to see our fantastic students perform!

FCPS CARES

Congratulations to Dr. Andria Watkins and Ms. Bethany Abelseth who have been recognized as employees who show that FCPS CARES.

Dr. Watkins has made a genuine connection with my freshman! She has inspired him in the class Personal Development, talking about colleges, careers, taking advanced high school classes, and being a good citizen in general. We have had numerous great conversations at home about things discussed in class. It's as if she's a 5th person at our dinner table sometimes! She has sparked a desire to excel academically in my child - I think for the first time! Thank you, Dr. Watkins.

Latin teacher and Ph.D. candidate Bethany Abelseth was invited to present her paper at an academic conference in Graz, Austria. She embodies FCPS CARES because she is constantly working to grow and learn in her content area and fine-tune her pedagogical skills at a very high level. Presenting at an academic conference is no small feat, and being invited to present is a greater accomplishment still. I want to celebrate Ms. Abelseth's dedication to bringing the enthusiasm of her specialty, Latin, to our school and for inspiring our students to appreciate the pursuit of learning ang growing

This information is posted on the FCPS CARES webpage, accessible at https://www.fcps.edu/news/fcps-cares-october-2025

We’re excited to offer you a more environmentally friendly and expedient option for receiving your child’s report cards: Go Paperless!

By choosing to go paperless, you'll be able to:

Here's how you can opt-in:

  4. If you’ve already opted for paperless for your secondary students, it will automatically apply to any younger siblings at the elementary level too!

2026-27 FAFSA Form Now Open (HS)

Federal Student Aid has made the 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available ahead of the scheduled release date. Any college-bound high school senior — regardless of income — who wants to be considered for federal, state, and school financial aid programs should complete a FAFSA form. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to work with their students to complete the FAFSA as early as possible. Families should check each college’s financial aid office website for deadlines and financial aid forms. They will need to create an account to fill out the FAFSA.

The Virginia Alternative State Aid (VASA) application has not yet opened but should be available in late January for students who are unable to complete the FAFSA. To help determine which aid option is most appropriate, families can visit the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia website.

Over the next few months, College Access Fairfax will be offering several programs on completing the FAFSA/VASA and finding and applying for scholarships. Get information on these programs and how to access them on the College Access Fairfax website.

In addition, College Access Fairfax staff are available for virtual one-on-one help sessions to complete the FAFSA/VASA. To request an appointment, families should email appointments@CollegeAccessFairfax.org.

FCPS Boundary Meetings

Participate in an Upcoming Community Boundary Review Meeting

FCPS will hold two sets of community boundary review meetings this fall — one in September and another in October. Each set of meetings will focus on two pyramids per meeting.

All meetings will include an overview of where FCPS is in the comprehensive boundary review process, an update and opportunity for feedback on school start times, how community input is informing the process, and next steps in the boundary review process.

The meeting for our pyramid will be held on Thursday, October 30 at 7:00 PM.

Visit the FCPS website for a full list of meeting dates and information about the October meetings.
