Welcome to the Wall Street Week newsletter, bringing you stories of capitalism about things you need to know, but even more things you need to think about. I’m David Westin, and this week special contributor Larry Summers brought us the story of US intervention to support Latin American currencies and Army Secretary Dan Driscoll gave us a glimpse into the future of war. Global Financial Stability

The US has offered Argentina a $20 billion lifeline as its economy teeters, though details of the rescue remain scant — and President Donald Trump rattled markets this week when he suggested the aid was contingent on President Javier Milei’s success in the midterm elections.

Special contributor Larry Summers of Harvard knows his way around a US intervention to support a peso, as he was a principal architect of US actions on behalf of the Mexican currency when he was under secretary of the Treasury in 1994.

Lessons From Ukraine

Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, met with Trump on Friday, seeking further support in his war with Russia. However that conflict turns out, it has already taught the US and the world a great deal about the future of warfare, given its rapid development in the use of drones both for intelligence and for attack.

US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has ambitious plans to learn from Ukraine as he seeks to re-direct US military efforts, and one of those helping him is Ryan Tseng, co-founder of Shield AI.
