There’s a new challenge trending, and this time it’s not about restriction or burnout. The 75 Grow Challenge swaps the harsh, all-or-nothing mindset of 75 Hard for something softer: consistency, kindness, and self-development. The goal is to create habits that actually feel sustainable.


Instead of punishing yourself with ice baths and double workouts, you’ll spend 75 days focusing on small, nourishing actions like moving your body daily (in any way that feels good), journaling, eating whole foods, and prioritizing mindfulness. Think of it as a wellness reset that celebrates progress over perfection.


It’s a reminder that growth doesn’t always look intense. Sometimes it looks like slowing down, tuning in, and staying gentle with yourself.

An incredible athlete just having graduated as a D1 swimmer from Yale, Ali Truwit’s entire life changed when a shark attacked her during a celebratory trip to Turks and Caicos. The event cost her part of her leg, but instead of letting trauma define her, Ali used it as fuel for her next chapter and went on to win two silver medals at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. 


Today, Ali Truwit’s story isn’t about what she lost—it’s about everything she’s giving back. She continues to champion others through the nonprofit she founded: Stronger Than You Think. The foundation helps women and girls access life-changing prosthetics, water-safety skills, and support through the Paralympic movement—because Ali knows firsthand how powerful those tools can be. She’s even donated her Paralympic medal earnings to the cause.


As she prepares to run the NYC Marathon with the New York Road Runners (NYRR), we sat down with Ali to talk resilience, purpose, and how she’s turning pain into power. 


You’ve talked about turning trauma into hope. When did you first feel the shift from just surviving to rebuilding?

I think immediately after the attack, knowing that I was in that life-or-death situation and really knowing what it means to almost have not survived, I felt like it was this mix. I was devastated and in the depths of trauma and tragedy, and at the same time, so grateful to be alive and really wanting to make the most of the second chance at life. 


When I came home and started recovery, it was a goal for me to show myself that what had just happened to me was not going to stop me from going for things that I wanted or thought I was capable of, and that's when I really started taking action. 


You founded Stronger Than You Think to support fellow amputees. What inspired the name?

The name was inspired by my biggest learning over the past two years, which is that we are all stronger than we think. I really do believe that we are sitting on a well of capacity we don't know we have within us. I just think we're capable of so much more than we might believe. 


What kind of impact are you hoping to make?

Stronger Than You Think supports the three pillars that saved my life and helped me rebuild it. So that's water safety, the Paralympic movement, and funding for prosthetics for young women and girls. And I hope that we grow to become a household name, inspiring millions and helping so many people. It’s healing for me to think that I could take this bad thing that happened to me and use it for good to help other people, and the support that I've received has been a game-changer in my recovery. I am so grateful and excited, and motivated to continue paying that forward.



Training for the NYC Marathon is no small feat. What does running this race symbolize for you?

I am working to gain my life's passions back one by one, and I started with the water and swimming in the Paralympics, and now I'm onto running. For me, especially having run a marathon 10 days before the shark attack, 10 days before losing my foot and my lower leg, it was top of mind. Now, to be able to come back to that and run another one, it's just a message to myself that this isn't going to stop me. It's a message to myself and others that we're stronger than we think. It's a message to the world to show what people with disabilities can do. 


How do you stay motivated on days when the finish line feels far away?
