Skyworks Solutions, which supplies radio frequency chips to Apple and other smartphone makers, held talks in recent months to buy Qorvo, a rival with a market capitalization of more than $8 billion, according to people familiar with the matter.
The acquisition talks follow warnings by both companies that sales to their biggest customer, which they previously said was Apple, were weakening because other rivals were winning business. It couldn’t be learned if Skyworks and Qorvo had finalized an agreement.
