Hurricane Melissa makes landfall in Jamaica as a Category 5 storm, the strongest in the island nation's history and the most powerful of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.

The storm is expected to bring "catastrophic winds, flash flooding, and storm surge," the National Hurricane Center has warned, with peak storm surge heights reaching 9 to 13 feet above ground level.
