Congratulations...
To Kirsten (Kiwi) Wiley for being recognized as an employee who shows that FCPS Cares!
We wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank and recognize Kirsten Wiley for her warm welcome and incredible support provided during the beginning of the 2025–2026 academic school year. As a military family, we transitioned to Falls Church late this summer with both incoming Junior and Senior students. Starting at a new school can be daunting and overwhelming, but the kindness, grace, and guidance provided during this time has made a monumental difference. From our first meeting, Ms. Wiley has made our girls feel seen, heard, and understood. She has taken countless hours to answer questions and listen to concerns; she helped our girls create, modify, and adjust to their schedules; most importantly, she has monitored them not just on an academic level, but also emotionally—which is reassuring during such a challenging time. Her encouragement has given both of them the confidence to take that first step forward and begin to find their place within this new school community. Kirsten Wiley has gone above and beyond any of our expectations, and thanks to her assistance and suggestions, our daughters are settling in nicely. Although no transition is perfectly smooth, they know Ms. Wiley will always champion and encourage them along the way. Thank you to Ms. Wiley for being such a steady presence and advocate. We are truly grateful for everything she has done, and continues to endeavor upon. She is the most dedicated counselor we have worked with at any school.

Attendance Matters!
As we approach the end of the first quarter, your role in your child's academic journey becomes even more crucial. Please take this opportunity to encourage your child to complete any missing assignments and arrange for any retakes they can do to improve their grades before the gradebooks close on Friday, October 31st.
Students can make arrangements to stay with their teachers or access our after-school tutoring support with the deans and NHS tutors on Wednesdays (bus transportation available) and Thursdays (must provide own transportation) inside the main office.
Additionally, on October 31st, Quarter 1 Attendance Report Cards will be emailed out to parents. Your active involvement in reviewing your child’s attendance report card with them and discussing the importance of regular attendance and keeping up with their schoolwork can significantly impact their academic performance.
If you have any questions regarding the Quarter 1 Attendance Report Cards, please reach out to the FCHS Deans of Students at FCDeans@fcps.edu. We value your input and are here to address any issues you may have.
Thank you all for your continued support and partnership!

Changes to Middle and High School Report Card Feedback
With the first quarter of the school year ending on Friday, October 31, families can expect student report cards to be available the week of November 10.
FCPS has revised the way teachers provide feedback on report cards, so you may notice some new comments. Specifically, comments have been revised to provide more detailed feedback for students and families.
Also, teachers can now include a Work Habits mark each quarter for each student. This scale provides feedback on students’ time management, organization, assignment completion, and overall effort in class. This is meant as feedback to families and will not appear on a student’s transcript.
View the Middle and High School Grading and Reporting webpage for more information.
Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey
FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets, which is in the upper right corner of the screen after logging in. Please complete it as soon as possible. We will provide paper forms to families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE starting Wednesday, November 12.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important. This year, FCPS expects to receive approximately $4 million in Impact Aid funding. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
