An early Halloween drawing for you…. although it’s not that early, is it? Gotta go get candy—but we never get trick or treaters, because of where we live in the country. So it’s candy for us, basically!
To a gathering of American military in Japan, Trump said he is going to “send more than the national guard” into US cities. During a speech that was sprinkled with grievances and partisan talking points, he said “we didn’t know we were going to do it this fast.” The reason why he is doing it “this fast” is to try to control the elections next year.
“We have cities that are troubled, we can’t have cities that are troubled,” Mr. Trump said. “And we’re sending in our National Guard, and if we need more than the National Guard, we’ll send more than the National Guard, because we’re going to have safe cities.”
Speaking of the midterms, after intense internal discussions, Virginia, New York and Illinois, have begun to get more aggressive about redistricting their voting maps, this after Trump’s push to redraw congressional lines throughout the nation. Yay! This week in California, voters will decide if they like the redistricting of California’s map that would allow five blue seats. Republicans tried to squash Proposition 50, but have abandoned the effort since it appears it will be successful. Dem leader Hakeem Jeffries has been traveling to shore up support for the Democrats to take more decisive action.
“This is unprecedented stuff to undermine the ability of the American people to participate in the free and fair election, which is why Democrats, on behalf of the American people, need to respond decisively,” Jeffries told reporters after Monday’s high-stakes meeting in Chicago with Black leaders.
This is good. National Democrats are tying to nudge Maryland to redistrict. I know the GOP is moving swiftly and decisively to try to redraw maps in red states, Dems have got to do the same, and do it fast. You can read more details here in a thorough explanation in Politico.
Trump destroyed four more boats in the Pacific that Hegseth said was carrying drugs. 14 people were killed. This brings the total of 57 innocent people being killed in this campaign. These people were killed with no proof and no due process. Absolutely horrible.
Gregory Bovino, Trump’s face in Border Patrol, has begun testifying before a federal judge about the tactics his people in masks are using in Chicago. She has ordered him to report every day at 6pm, after there were reports of the usage of tear gas in Chicago. I see the videos on social media, it’s horrible.
The shutdown continues, and the Epstein Files are still not released.
Two dozen states sued the Trump administration over food stamps supsension during the shut-down. The lawsuit is co-led by New York, California and Massachusetts, and asks a federal judge to force the US Department of Agriculture to tap into emergency reserve funds to distribute food benefits to the nearly 42 million families and children who rely on the assistance.
“Snap is one of our nation’s most effective tools to fight hunger, and the USDA has the money to keep it running,” the NY attorney general, Letitia James, said in a statement announcing the lawsuit. “There is no excuse for this administration to abandon families who rely on Snap, or food stamps, as a lifeline. The federal government must do its job to protect families.”
