Thank you to everyone who helped our Bingoween be a success this year! Thanks to your enthusiasm, donations, and volunteer efforts, we raised over $1,500 to support our school.

"Fall for Our Mustangs" November Fundraising Month

Ø  This November will be our school's fundraising month. From November 6 - December 1, students and classes will build campaigns to reach fundraising goals for themselves, their class, their grade and the school! Their efforts will earn them cool prizes and rewards as well as provide impactful funding for our school. Next week, we will provide detailed information on how to join the fundraiser and the prizes involved. 

Ø  Did you know our Principal’s discretionary budget was cut by more than 30% this year? That’s why our PTA fundraising efforts are more important than ever. Thanks to your generosity so far, we’ve already been able to donate $3,000 toward field trips, purchase a new high-capacity paper cutter for our amazing art teacher, Ms. Springfield, and provide pumpkins for all our Pre-K and Head Start students to use in their fall STEM project! Your continued support helps us fill the gaps and ensure our students and staff have the tools and experiences they need to thrive. Please join us in upcoming fundraisers so we can keep making a difference—together!

 

 

SOL Standards Survey (Complete here by Nov. 6).

Ø Virginia is considering raising the minimum passing scores for SOL tests. We are very concerned that doing so during a time of budget cuts will just place additional strain on our school. Higher benchmarks, without added resources, disproportionately affect schools like ours with large immigrant and multilingual populations, and negatively influence teacher and school evaluations. We urge you to complete the survey and voice your concerns.        

 

Upcoming BMP PTA Events

 

Ø Help Mr. Clock with gardening tomorrow! (10/29 at 4:15pm)

 Mr. Clock is looking for help tomorrow after school at 4:15pm to clean up the planters in front of the school. We will be removing and replanting flowers. No equipment is necessary (just bring gloves), and children are encouraged to attend and help.

 

Ø 11/6 - Save the Date for our PTA's "Fall for Our Mustangs" November Fundraiser Kickoff

Our PTA’s biggest fundraising event of the year is almost here! Formerly known as the Turkey Trot/Walkathon, this exciting school-wide event will kick off on November 6 during the school day. Students will join in a fun fitness activity while helping raise funds to support Bren Mar Park’s programs and events. If you are interested in volunteering at the kickoff, please sign up for a slot here. This is also a chance for you to see your student during PE class. Stay tuned for more details on how you can get involved and support our school community!

 

 

Ø 11/13 - Save the Date - Thanksgiving Lunch At School

Save the date for the thanksgiving lunch! Families are encouraged to come have lunch alongside their child during their regularly scheduled lunch time. Families may purchase a school lunch for cash or bring their own. The School will provide more details. Our PTA will also be selling spirit wear during the event. Did you know that families are now permitted to have lunch with your child? All you have to do is check in at the front office prior to your student's lunch time. Please see below for the current lunch schedule (which is subject to change, please check with the school to confirm the most up to date lunch schedule).

Kindergarteners also went on their first field trip to Cox farms this week! If you see a Kindergartener, ask them how they liked the farm!
