Paramount Skydance will begin a sweeping round of layoffs, eliminating more than 1,000 U.S. jobs this week, just months after the Trump administration greenlit the $8 billion merger of the companies.

The layoffs were widely anticipated after Skydance founder and CEO David Ellison signaled major changes would be coming to the company that owns CBS, Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures.
