Tesla shareholders back Musk's pay deal

Tesla shareholders have approved a record-breaking pay package that could be worth nearly $1tn (£760bn) for the electric car maker's boss, Elon Musk. While several major institutional investors rejected the package, which was backed by Tesla's board despite a recent slip in sales, it passed with 75% of votes. Musk celebrated on stage in Texas, dancing to chants of his name and declaring "not merely a new chapter... but a whole new book" for Tesla. He won't receive a salary but would be issued additional shares for meeting a range of targets, including raising Tesla's market value from $1.4tn to $8.5tn.

Since 2023, Sudan has been gripped by a vicious power struggle between its army and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitaries. On Monday, the International Criminal Court said it was investigating possible "war crimes and crimes against humanity", after RSF fighters stormed the besieged city of el-Fasher last month.
