It has been an offseason of major changes on the Beltway.
The Nationals hired Red Sox assistant general manager Paul Toboni as their president of baseball operations in September. It was a generational shift, the Nationals choosing the 35-year-old Toboni to replace 64-year-old Mike Rizzo, who was fired in July after 16-plus seasons.
Toboni then hired Tampa Bay player development director Blake Butera, a former Boston College player, as manager.
The Orioles sacked manager Brandon Hyde after 43 games then bypassed interim manager Tony Mansolino to hire Guardians bench coach Craig Albernaz as manager in October. Albernaz is a native of Somerset.
