Hello, hello, and welcome to Saturday!

We're just a few days away from Thanksgiving, and I've received requests for recipes to make your cooking adventures easier.

So, let's take another look at some make-ahead favorites to make your holiday cooking easier, but just as delicious.

Here are a few fave recipes for those much-needed make-ahead moments:

  • The ultimate turkey gravy is so easy to make ahead. It starts with roasting wings or other turkey parts to make a homemade turkey broth, then whisking, cooking, and refrigerating to warm up later. Or if homemade broth isn't your thing, feel free to sub chicken broth instead.

  • This cranberry sauce only takes 5 minutes to make, but still, making it ahead will help you in the end. You can do this up to a week in advance.

  • Make-ahead mashed potatoes make life easier. By adding a few special ingredients, the mashed potatoes stay extra creamy even after being baked.

  • Make and bake these buttery, pillowy-soft dinner rolls the day before and gently rewarm them (cover with foil first) in the oven before serving. Voila!

  • Make-ahead classics like my grandma's FAMOUS potato salad, ambrosia salad, and crunchy Waldorf salad always taste better the next day, anyway!

  • My slow-cooker creamed corn not only makes it super simple to make (ahead of time) but also serves as an easy way to rewarm your dish, especially when there's no space left on the stove or in the oven.

  • Baked, casserole-like sides like my favorite stuffing, cornbread dressing, au gratin potatoes, sweet potato casserole, broccoli casserole, or green bean casserole, creamed spinach, creamed Swiss chard, or mac and cheese can all be made a day or two in advance and simply reheated in the oven.

  • Pies should always be made in advance. Desserts like pumpkin pie and pecan pie should always be made in advance. Store them in the fridge and then take them out a few hours before serving so they can come to room temp to enjoy!

Enjoy!

Heidi

P.S. If you haven't defrosted your turkey, start today so you can get that turkey brining a few days before cooking for the ultimate juicy clucker.
