I thought I’d show you a video from a few years back. The wonderful museum down in New York City, called the Society of illustrators, invited me to take over their Instagram with a video post, so I did! In this video I show you my studio in the Hudson Valley, I draw, and talk about the process of drawing. Then I’m joined by my husband. Michael, who many of you know is also New Yorker cartoonist— that’s how we met (his studio is in the house, his preference). For this video, he and I draw together and just have fun making stuff up. In reality, we never work together—only twice in 40 years. As well as being really funny cartoonist, Michael Maslin is a historian of New Yorker cartoons. His daily newsletter, Inkspill, is on Substack--it’s all about New Yorker cartoonists, past and present. Michael began at The New Yorker magazine in 1977, and I began in 1979, we met in the early 80’s. Together, we have drawing and writing for The New Yorker over 90 years. I hope you enjoy.
