Stallion Activities Update 12/7

Week in Review

On Saturday, the Boy's Basketball team travelled to Potomac Senior to kick off their season against a strong Gar-Field team.  It was a tight game throughout but ultimately the Red Wolves pulled away in the 4th quarter and downed the Stallions 64-59.

The Girls Basketball program had a strong first week despite a tough loss at Gainesville to start the season.  After the initial loss, the girls bounced back to handle Colonial Forge at home and then went 2-0 this weekend, beating Flint Hill 53-23 on Saturday, to earn first place in the Flint Hill tip-off tournament.

Swim and Dive hosted C.G. Woodson on Friday and despite losing as a team, had a number of strong showings at the individual level across both the divers and swimmers.

Indoor Track had their initial invitational at Osbourne Park cancelled due to weather but had the opportunity to race at TJ Middle School on Saturday.  On the girls side, the Stallions were led by sophomore Tyler Hunt who finished 1st in the 55 m dash with a time of 817.  Tyler also finished 2nd in the 300m dash and 6th in the high jump.  The boys were led by sophomore Nathan Butler who finished 4th in the 55m and 3rd in the 300m.  The boys 4x200 also finished second with a time of 1:49.87.

Gymnastics travelled to Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday and despite youth and inexperience, competed well in their first meet of the season.

Wrestling got their season started at Fairfax High School for the annual 32 team Northern Virginia Classic Tournament and found success, placing three wrestlers in the top 7.  At 120 Aaryan Sharma led the Stallions, going 5-1 across the two days, to finish 3rd.  At 106 Aidan Payne finished 6th and in the 215 lb weight class Ostap Chornyl came in 7th.

South County Performing Arts

The South County Performing Arts program presented two incredible shows this week.  The orchestra, symphonic band and chamber choir joined forces on Tuesday for a powerful performance of selections from Carmina Burana and then the choir came back on Thursday for their annual winter concert.

Concession Stand Volunteers

We are excited for the Fall sports season and we NEED your help! In order for us to keep our concession stand up and running we need volunteers to assist us on game nights. The revenue generated through concessions serves as the SCHS Athletic Booster Club's primary source of funding. The money earned goes right back to the sports teams to cover the costs of equipment, uniforms, and more! Any family can volunteer! You do not need to have a student participating in Sports to make an impact! Visit the link below and consider helping us out one night! Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
